Menter Aberteifi has grown in strength and stature as a “grass roots” organisation, helping to facilitate and develop community regeneration projects in the Cardigan area, gaining a reputation of being proactive as a community regeneration group that assists and acts as an interface between voluntary and statutory bodies.
The company opens its doors to all who are concerned about aspects of Cardigan and the surrounding area’s economy and physical or social environment, offering local people a non-political route of active involvement in addressing the needs of the community. Over the years hundreds of individuals and many voluntary groups have become engaged in the activities of the company.
Current Projects
Guildhall Restoration
Over the past 4 years, Menter Aberteifi, working in partnership with Cardigan Building Preservation Trust, has successfully undertaken the Guildhall restoration project, raising and managing £1.2 million of funding, bringing this much loved building back into full use as a multi-purpose community centre, corporate & private venue and community gallery. Menter Aberteifi now manages the Guildhall, with an office in the building.
Festivals and Events
Menter has been involved in event delivery and management since its inception. The annual River & Food Festival is a premier event in West Wales and other new events are under development. www.festivals-events-wales.co.uk
Tourism Marketing
Menter has been actively involved in marketing the local area for the past ten years. The Cardigan Brochure has a print run of over 70,000, distributed UK wide and the www.visitcardigan.com site is a highly ranked comprehensive tourism site, under constant development.
